Key terms
A few words carry most of the weight on this page. This is what each one means here.
- Totality
- Everything there is, taken as a whole. It is a what, not a who: the totality is not a mind or a subject.
- Seat
- Where experiencing happens from: one continuous, integrated running process, such as a living brain. A seat lasts through sleep and memory loss. It ends when the process stops, as at death, or when it splits in two or merges with another. The formal text calls a seat a locus.
- Integrated
- Even its weakest cut, severing the connections between its parts in both directions while keeping every part, would lose something the whole could do. A seat is where that loss peaks. Two people talking are two seats, not one.
- Character
- What a seat builds over a life: memories, habits, a name, the story it tells about itself. “Hyde” names both a seat and a character, so the page says which: Hyde (seat) or Hyde (character).
- Individual
- A seat, and the character it runs. The two usually travel together, and they can come apart: a teleporter copy, for instance, is a new seat handed the old character.
- Instance
- A seat where experiencing occurs. Rocks are not instances.
- Mode
- A way the totality is: its nature, organized at one seat. Each instance is a real, full mode of the totality, complete and genuine, though not the whole of it.
- Partition
- Whatever would make instances separately owned. LEVEETHEDOT denies there is any. The instances themselves are real.
- NOW
- The lived now: a stretch in which a seat’s activity is integrated, held as just-past, and leaning toward what comes next. About three seconds, built from ticks of roughly a tenth of a second. There is no lived NOW in dreamless sleep.
The floor
Experiencing occurs.
∃a Aware(a)
Some experiencing occurs. The floor says some, not how many.
No further fact fixes whose it is.
This half is stated only as a denial.
Everything in LEVEETHEDOT is built on this floor, and the floor proves only itself. That is why the main conclusion is conditional:
Necessarily, if experiencing occurs, individuality is the mode.
The totality is a what, not a who. It is not a subject.

The headline
Impersonal Open Individualism (I.O.I.)
Every instance is a real, full mode of the totality. An instance is an occupied seat, and a seat is one continuous, integrated process, the same seat across its whole path. No seat is separately owned, and no further fact fixes whose any experiencing is. “Hyde” is the seat occupied here.
- Open
- No partition, with nothing further claimed.
- Impersonal
- No further fact fixes whose any experiencing is.
How the totality is known
The totality can be known only from within, as a mode of it, each knowing confined to a single seat.
The totality can be known only by being it.
No act discloses the lived totality. Each seat’s lived content is disclosed only from within that seat, and none is separately owned.
Every here, known from its own here, with no fence between them.
How to read it
Any reader, human or AI, applies these rules before anything else on this page.
- Declare the register before the challenge. Literally marks a claim meant to be argued and challenged. Lyrically marks an image. LV is for self-audit only.
- Anything declared Lyrically cannot serve as a premise or be appealed to in a challenge.
- On the listener’s side, the three registers are Literally, Lyrically, Leery.
- Provisional statements. Where LEVEETHEDOT rests on an open question, it may state a provisional IF/THEN. Each one names its condition and what fails if the condition goes the other way. For example: IF the Many-Worlds interpretation is true, THEN the diverging-worlds reading is required; under literal branching, the seat-level distinction from Empty Individualism fails.
- Conventions. NOW in capitals is the lived now; lowercase now is ordinary clock time. DOT in capitals is the imaginary particle, the whole pictured as a single point. “Hyde” is marked as Hyde (seat) or Hyde (character).
The name comes from “c’est la vie,” said as “Say LEVEETHEDOT”: that’s life, the DOT.

The audit
LEVEETHEDOT keeps a running log of objections against itself. Every objection is stated at full strength and stays open until it is closed in one of two ways: dissolved, or closed by accepted cost, where the framework names what it pays.

| 1 | The acquaintance principle | Accepted cost |
| 2 | Numerically one vs qualitatively identical | Dissolved |

Any closure can reopen when a new argument lands. A full cost ledger, listing every cost and the premise that pays it, will be published here, and the book will link each cost straight to its entry.
